Hickford Parade sewer replacement complete
21 May 2015
A $250,000 sewer main replacement adjacent to Warrnambool’s Hickford Parade is now complete.
Wannon Water Managing Director Grant Green said the Hickford Parade Sewer Replacement Project involved replacing a 620-metre section of the original sewer main that had reached the end of its service life.
“This section of the sewer main was laid in the 1960s and replacing it was identified as a priority to avoid future sewer spills and protect the integrity of the sewerage system,” Mr Green said.
“We also took the opportunity to increase the size of the sewer main to cater for increased sewage flows from future development east of the Hopkins River.
“The construction works were carried out very smoothly and there were no interruptions to sewerage services throughout the project.”
Wannon Water has re-seeded the dune area surrounding the new sewer main with native grasses and plants, and installed an access track for future maintenance purposes using a biodegradable mesh.
The Hickford Parade Sewer Replacement Project was delivered on time and within budget.
