Water and sewerage price reductions for 2016/17 - Casterton & Coleraine

01 July 2016

Wannon Water customers will benefit from reduced water and sewerage prices in 2016/17.

Wannon Water has also announced the price reduction will be 2% greater in real terms than the average 0.34% reduction approved by the Essential Services Commission, the result of recent business efficiencies.

This means a typical Casterton or Coleraine household using 155 kilolitres of water per year will receive an annual bill reduction of about $40 for residential home owner-occupiers and about $15 for residential tenants. A small business with a trade waste service using 155 kilolitres of water can expect an annual bill reduction of about $37.

The equivalent households in Dartmoor, Macarthur, Merino and Sandford will receive an annual bill reduction of about $28 for owner-occupiers and $15 for tenants, and the equivalent small business an annual bill reduction of $31.

In further good news, Wannon Water is also providing residential water customers with a third annual $70 Government Efficiency Rebate on top of the reduced prices.

Acting Managing Director Steven Waterhouse said the reduced prices reflect Wannon Water’s corporate vision – ‘Beyond water for strong communities’ – and its commitment to delivering long-term value for customers.

“Affordable pricing is a high priority for Wannon Water and we are very pleased to continue our four-year trend of delivering price reductions for customers and helping strengthen our communities,” Mr Waterhouse said.

“In recent years we have made a concerted effort to deliver business efficiencies and pass the savings on to customers, making Wannon Water the first Victorian water corporation to proactively reduce prices beyond those approved, not once but twice.

“Wannon Water is implementing capital and operational cost saving initiatives to provide real reductions in customers’ water bills without compromising service standards or existing hardship protections to assist vulnerable customers.”

The $70 rebate is the third of four annual rebates to be issued by Wannon Water to residential water customers.

The rebate will apply to all Wannon Water residential households who pay a water usage charge and will appear as a credit on the first quarterly bill issued in the 2016/17 financial year.

“At a time when many other utility bills are increasing, this is an excellent result for customers in these towns, as they will again receive actual reductions in their Wannon Water bills,” Mr Waterhouse said.
