A step-by-step guide
The following steps will help guide you through the process of planning, designing, testing and connecting your development. We’re here to help, so if you have any questions give us a call.
Follow these steps
Our Land Development Manual covers all you need to know about connecting services to a new development, subdivision or single property.
Make sure you take a look and get in contact with us if you have any questions.
You’ll need a registered consulting engineer to manage the surveying, design, construction and works administration on your behalf.
Once you’ve engaged a civil consulting engineer, the consultant can apply for an Offer of Conditions.
An Offer of Conditions will outline the following:
- Size of the required works.
- The auditing and connection fees.
- New customer contributions.
- The defects liability period.
- The maintenance period.
- Any other identified requirements.
We’ll send you an Offer of Conditions outlining our requirements. Both the developer and consulting engineer will need to accept the offer. This will formalise our agreement with you for the provision of our services.
Note: we do not require plans to be submitted as part of this form.
Once the Offer of Conditions is accepted and the relevant fees are paid, your engineer will need to submit your designs.
Construction cannot start until your design is approved and you’ve let us know that works will begin (Step 6).
Before you start any construction, you’ll need to let us know that work is about to begin.
Make sure the consulting engineer has given you a copy of the Worksafe notification of the commencement of works. This is a required regulation.
Notify us that you’re ready to test the water or sewerage systems. You’ll need to let us know at least 3 days before you plan to start.
Let us know you’re ready to link to our network and your preferred timeframe for this to take place.
Your consulting engineer will need to let us know when work is complete. They’ll also need to certify that the work meets our requirements.
We’ll undertake a site inspection to ensure the completed work meets our guidelines. Once the requirements of the Offer of Conditions are met, a Statement of Compliance will be provided to the relevant council.
